Coyote Hills Regional Park
Coyote Hills Regional Park (8000 Patterson Ranch Rd, Fremont, CA 94555) covers 1,266 acres of marshland, rolling hills, and San Francisco Bay shoreline at the western edge of Fremont, and it's one of the East Bay Regional Park District's most visited natural areas. The park protects one of the best-preserved shellmound sites in California — evidence of Ohlone habitation going back more than 2,000 years — and its interpretive programs draw school groups, cultural organizations, and naturalist clubs year-round. Trails wind through pickleweed marsh and along the bay's edge with clear views of the San Mateo Bridge.
Bus parking costs $25, and vehicle access can close temporarily when the park reaches capacity; additional parking is available at Dumbarton Quarry Campground, so groups should allow extra arrival time. Check the East Bay Regional Park District's Coyote Hills page before your visit.
